About Us
We are a deep-tech quantum sensing company specializing in the commercialization of scanning NV (nitrogen-vacancy) microscopy instrumentation and quantum sensing software. We are seeking an exceptional candidate who possesses deep technical expertise in magnetization reconstruction and inverse problem algorithms, along with a strong commercial drive and cultural fluency to expand our presence in the Asia-Pacific market.
Role Overview
This high-impact, cross-functional role sits at the intersection of scientific algorithm development and commercialization. The successful candidate will directly contribute to our product, Magma, a proprietary data analysis platform for quantum scanning microscopy, while also identifying and fostering commercial opportunities with research institutes and industry partners throughout the Asia-Pacific region.
Key Responsibilities
- Software Development: Contribute to the development and continuous improvement of Magma, our proprietary data analysis software for quantum scanning microscopy, including algorithm design, user interface, and documentation.
- Inverse Problem Algorithms: Develop and apply inverse problem theory and numerical methods to magnetization reconstruction challenges in SNVM data pipelines.
- Business Development: Identify and develop business opportunities in the Asia-Pacific market, collaborating directly with academic laboratories, semiconductor companies, and research institutes.
- Technical Communication: Serve as a technical liaison, clearly communicating complex quantum sensing capabilities to both scientific and non-scientific stakeholders in English and Mandarin Chinese.
- Instrument Operation: Operate and optimize scanning NV microscope systems; troubleshoot and improve measurement workflows.
Required Qualifications
- Education: PhD in Physics, with a strong foundation in quantum sensing, quantum optics, or condensed matter physics. Direct, hands-on experience with commercial scanning NV technology is required; candidates with experience solely in academic prototypes or other scanning probe techniques will not be considered.
- Commercial SNVM Experience: Proven experience operating and deploying commercial scanning NV microscopy systems (e.g., QZabre, Qnami, or equivalent platforms) in a production or customer-facing context. Experience limited to in-house academic NV setups is insufficient.
- Magnetization Reconstruction & Inverse Problem Theory: Proficiency in inverse problem theory, with direct application to magnetization reconstruction from scanning NV data required, including experience with regularization methods and uncertainty quantification.
- Python & Software: Strong Python programming skills and experience with GUI development in Python (e.g., PyQt, PySide).
- Magnetism Expertise: Comprehensive knowledge of magnetism, including ferromagnetism, antiferromagnetism, and thin-film magnetic materials as they relate to SNVM applications.
- Bilingual Fluency & Travel: Native-level fluency in both English and Mandarin Chinese (written and spoken) is mandatory, along with a willingness to travel regularly within the Asia-Pacific region for customer engagements and partnership development (estimated travel: 30-40% of working time).
Nice to Have
- Experience building or contributing to commercial software tools.
- Publications related to inverse problem algorithms or improvements in SNVM performance.
- Background in a startup, deep-tech company, or technology commercialization context.
- An established network in the Asia-Pacific academic or industrial research community.
- Familiarity with grant writing or scientific proposal development.
