Research Assistant in Development Economics

The Development Economics Group (DEC) at ETH Zurich is dedicated to empirical economics research aimed at informing effective policies that can reduce global poverty and inequality. Our primary goal is to foster social innovations that tackle these challenges through rigorous empirical and experimental economic research.

The Development Economics Group (ETH-DEC) is currently seeking a research assistant in Development Economics. The starting date is September 1, 2026, and the position is for a duration of 6 months.

Job Description

  • You will clean datasets and conduct or reproduce statistical analyses in preparation for academic publications.
  • You will be responsible for visualizing results, conducting literature reviews, and performing data searches.
  • You will assist with organizational tasks related to the operation of our research group.

Profile

  • You hold a Master’s degree in economics, statistics, or development studies.
  • You possess a strong background in quantitative methods and have a passion for coding.
  • You are interested in issues surrounding global poverty and inequality.
  • You have a good command of the statistical software R and/or STATA.
  • You are fluent in both spoken and written English.
  • Knowledge of InDesign is a plus, but not a requirement.
  • Familiarity with French or German is an asset, though not mandatory.
  • Experience working with an international organization focused on global development is beneficial, but not required.
