Your Mission

Job Description

  • Specifications and Design: Lead the development of mechanical specifications, design philosophies, and basis of design for global execution. Ensure that owner requirements are clearly defined and effectively communicated to contractors while validating design assumptions against operability, safety, and regulatory expectations.
  • Contractor Management: Review and approve submissions from contractors, enforce owner requirements, provide technical clarifications, and ensure adherence to schedule, quality, safety, and operability.
  • Innovation and Cost Optimization: Develop innovative engineering solutions that identify cost-saving opportunities without compromising quality or safety. Focus on decisions that enhance local design conditions.
  • Interface Management: Assure strong integration across process, civil, electrical, and O&M disciplines to achieve optimized designs and manage cross-discipline interfaces proactively.
  • Regulatory and Stakeholder Awareness: Support alignment of mechanical scope with local permitting needs for energy/industrial facilities.
  • Documentation and Knowledge Management: Maintain thorough records of technical decisions, design bases, and lessons learned for future operational use.
  • Cold-weather and Constructability: Incorporate Alberta's climate conditions into design and execution planning, ensuring designs can operate and be maintained during winter conditions.

Your Story

Requirements

  • Educational Background: A degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Professional Experience: At least 10 years in process plants, preferably in cold weather climates, with expertise in API and ASME equipment.
  • Project Experience: Hands-on involvement in at least one full-cycle project in the chemical, petrochemical, or renewables industry.
  • Work Style: A precise, adaptable, and reliable approach with a proactive and solution-oriented mindset.
  • Communication: Confident in presenting to executive audiences and translating technical content into clear information.
  • Languages & Travel: Fluent in English and willing to travel up to 60% of the time, including extended onsite presence in Alberta, Canada.
